The 2006 vintage at Château Carignan

2006 is behind us, welcome to 2007!

2006 was a year with roller coaster weather. June and July were very hot, whereas August was particularly cool.
September started off beautifully, but a significant amount of rain soon followed.

Once again, Château Carignan's terroir saved the day.
The 2006 vintage proved just how important it is to plough the soil and leave natural green cover to cope with excess water.
In this way, the rain’s impact was minimised and water did not reach the roots quickly and all at once. We were thus able to wait as long as necessary before harvesting. However, once the time came to pick, we needed to be very quick since we had one (extremely busy) week at our disposal, but no more!

While 2006 is very different from 2005, with less power, it is beautifully rich, with great finesse, a velvety texture, and magnificent fruit.
It is presently ageing and due to be bottled in 2008.
